Sales and project engineer.
I think it’s exciting to be a part of the development that Alusteel is going through these years. To a large extent, I help to shape the future of the company. I think I am speaking on behalf of all employees – and at least on my own – when I say that we all enjoy great independence in the job. This applies to both employees in production and with us in the office.
Most of my day takes place at a screen. We have a flexitime scheme, and I choose to arrive early, where there is still peace. It gives me the opportunity to follow up on the things from the previous day. The calm lasts until 07.30. Then the customers call or email and the order entry begins. I enter dialogue with the customer, figure out offers and put the order in motion. I follow up on delivery and contact the customer when the order is on its way to him or her.
In addition to order processing, I am also responsible for purchasing.
I never know what the day will bring. My life at Alusteel is varied. I live my days in a healthy bustle. Suddenly it is closing-time. I really thrive here at Alusteel.
Trained engineer
I am a trained engineer in design and development. I was hired to draw stairs and balconies and when we stopped producing these, I was trained to program the machines, which also made me capable of relieving my coworkers during holidays or the like.
Today I am part of the team that handles the order processing. I do not use my education specifically but benefit from the general strengths that engineering education provides – working in a structured way, having a technical understanding of the challenges, and knowing something about the properties of the different materials.
After all, there is no official training in order processing in a steel and metal company. We complement each other here in the office – and share the tasks according to each other’s competencies.
If you want to be part of our team, it probably requires you to thrive with an informal tone. There will be fun and pranks. We have a good time at work, here at Alusteel.
That I am still here after 12 years speaks for itself. Something happens all the time. The company is developing. And if you want to know if Alusteel is something for you, then I can only encourage you to come and see what the company you have an interest in, is really like.
